UDUSOK REGISTRAR SPEAKS ON 2018/19 ADMISSION PROCESS
The Registrar, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Mallam Nurudeen Abubakar Bello has made some clarifications concerning the 2018/2019 admission exercise during an interview with One of the campus press board, PEN PRESS correspondents in his office on Tuesday 16th August, 2018
He confirmed that the minimum cutoff mark for 2018/2019 admission is 160 which is in line with the Federal Ministry of Education directives but admission depends on the requirements for each course of study
"It is true that the minimum cutoff mark is 160, but that does not mean your admission is automatic. 160 is just the mark required for consideration as each course has their admission cutoff mark which was released earlier" .
He further made some clarifications on acronyms RM, RC, ELDS.
The University catchment Areas (RC) are ten; Sokoto, Kebbi, Zamfara, Katsina, Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Niger, Nassarawa and Kwara. The Education Less Developed States are Bauchi, Gombe, Adamawa, Taraba, Borno, Yobe, Plateau, Benue, Kogi, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Cross River and FCT. Meanwhile the National merit (RM) covers states outside ELDS and RC.
He stressed that the admission process will reflect the National Education policy which stated 60:40 of science and sciences related courses against Arts and Humanities and no Direct admission for professional courses.
"There won't be admission for DE applicants seeking professional courses like Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, Medical Lab, Radiography,Engineering,Law among others" He said.
When asked about the the timeframe for the release of admission, he assured that the admission will be released before the resumption for 2018/2019 session.
"Normally, we conduct registration of new students before returning students. So, we conduct admission before resumption" he assured.
He urged all applicants to upload their 'O' Level result on the JAMB portal so as to be considered for admission.
"With the new JAMB Central Admission Processing System (CAPS), all applicants should upload their 'O' Level results on their JAMB profile for smooth admission consideration"
Speaking on the possible conduct of Post-utme
"The University management is yet to decide whether to conduct it or not, but last year, the school management did not conduct it.
He finally enjoined applicants to shun scammers as the University do not compromise admission process.
"Applicants don't need to know anybody before they get admission, once you meet the requirements it is the prerogative of the University to consider you.
"Applicants should visit the University admission portal, admissions.udusok.edu.ng , for any updates" he concluded
